Author Guidelines

Authors submitting to Prismalia Journal must prepare their manuscripts using the official journal template and submit all required files through the journal's online submission system.

Submissions must be original, unpublished, scientifically rigorous, ethically compliant and relevant to the journal's multidisciplinary scope. Manuscripts may be submitted in English or Spanish.

Article Types

Word limits are indicative and may be adjusted when justified by the nature of the manuscript. Authors should avoid unnecessary length and repetition.

How to Submit

All manuscripts must be submitted through the Prismalia Journal online submission system. Submissions sent only by email are not considered formal submissions.

Required Submission Files

Authors must upload the following files:

• Manuscript: complete article prepared using the official Microsoft Word template.
• Cover letter: completed and signed according to the official journal template.
• Figures and images: original high-resolution files when applicable.
• Supplementary material: datasets, instruments, appendices, protocols, multimedia files or other relevant materials, when applicable.
• Permissions: written authorization for any third-party material that requires permission for reproduction.

Author and Submission Metadata

All information entered in OJS must be complete, accurate and consistent with the manuscript.

For every author, the following information is required:

• Full name as it should appear in the publication.
• Institutional affiliation.
• City and country of the institution.
• Institutional or professional email address.
• ORCID iD expressed as a complete URL, for example: https://orcid.org/0000-0000-0000-0000.
• Identification of the corresponding author.
• Author contribution information.

The order of authors entered in OJS must correspond exactly to the order shown in the manuscript. Changes in authorship after submission require a written justification and the agreement of all authors.

Formatting Requirements

• File format: Microsoft Word .docx.
• Template: use of the official Prismalia Journal template is mandatory.
• Font and spacing: follow the specifications included in the official template.
• Headings: use a clear and consistent hierarchical structure.
• Pages: use continuous page numbering.
• Abbreviations: define them at first use and avoid unnecessary abbreviations.
• Units: use the International System of Units when applicable.

Authors should not reproduce the journal's final publication layout. The manuscript must follow the editable template provided for submission and production.

Title, Abstract and Keywords

The following elements must be provided in both English and Spanish:

• Article title.
• Abstract or resumen.
• Keywords or palabras clave.

Abstracts should normally contain between 200 and 300 words. Original research articles should use a structured or clearly organized abstract that reflects the objective, methodology, principal results and conclusions.

Authors must provide between 4 and 6 keywords in each language. Whenever appropriate, keywords should be selected from recognized controlled vocabularies such as MeSH, ERIC Thesaurus, IEEE Thesaurus, UNESCO Thesaurus or another vocabulary relevant to the discipline.

Tables, Figures and Images

• Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are cited in the manuscript.
• Every table and figure must be mentioned in the main text.
• Each table must have a concise title placed above it.
• Each figure must have an informative caption placed below it.
• Notes, abbreviations and data sources must be identified clearly.
• Tables must be editable and should not be submitted only as images.
• Figures, photographs and diagrams must be legible and submitted separately in high resolution.
• Recommended image formats are JPEG, PNG or TIFF, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
• Text, symbols and labels must remain readable at the final publication size.
• Authors must obtain permission to reproduce copyrighted figures, tables, images, maps or other third-party content.

References and Citation Style

Prismalia Journal uses the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition — APA 7.

• In-text citations and the reference list must correspond exactly.
• Every source cited in the text must appear in the reference list.
• Sources not cited in the manuscript must not appear in the reference list.
• References must be complete, accurate and verified by the authors.
• DOI identifiers must be included as complete URLs whenever available.
• Authors should prioritize relevant, current and original sources.
• Excessive self-citation or citation manipulation is not permitted.

DOI identifiers should be presented using this format:

https://doi.org/10.xxxx/xxxxx

Mandatory Declarations

Manuscripts must include the following declarations before the reference list. When a section is not applicable, authors should state this explicitly.

Authorship and Contributions

Authorship is limited to individuals who made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis or interpretation of the work; participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript; approved the final version; and accept responsibility for the publication.

Contributors who do not meet all authorship criteria should be identified in the acknowledgments, with their permission. Honorary, guest, gift and ghost authorship are prohibited.

The journal recommends the CRediT contribution roles:

• Conceptualization.
• Methodology.
• Software.
• Validation.
• Formal analysis.
• Investigation.
• Resources.
• Data curation.
• Writing – Original Draft.
• Writing – Review & Editing.
• Visualization.
• Supervision.
• Project administration.
• Funding acquisition.

Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence

Authors must declare any use of generative artificial intelligence or AI-assisted technologies during the preparation of the manuscript.

The declaration must identify:

• The name and provider of the tool.
• The version, when known.
• The purpose for which it was used.
• The parts of the research or manuscript in which it was used.
• The procedures followed to verify the resulting content.

Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility, approve the final manuscript, disclose conflicts of interest or transfer publication rights.

Authors retain full responsibility for the originality, accuracy, integrity, citations, interpretations and final content of the manuscript.

Research Data and Supplementary Materials

Prismalia Journal encourages authors to make the data, code, instruments, protocols and other materials supporting their results openly available whenever legal, ethical, contractual and privacy conditions permit.

Research materials may be deposited in a recognized institutional, disciplinary or general-purpose repository. The manuscript should include the repository name, persistent identifier and conditions of access.

When data cannot be shared openly, authors must explain the reason, such as:

• Protection of personal or sensitive information.
• Participant confidentiality.
• Legal or contractual restrictions.
• Intellectual property limitations.
• Security or ethical concerns.

A Data Availability Statement is required even when no new data were created or analyzed.

Articles accepted by Prismalia Journal are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) .

This license permits others to copy, distribute, adapt and build upon the work for any lawful purpose, including commercial use, provided that appropriate credit is given to the authors, a link to the license is included and any changes are indicated.

Authors must ensure that all third-party content included in the manuscript can legally be published under the applicable terms or is accompanied by the necessary permission and attribution.

Peer-Review Model

Prismalia Journal uses external single-anonymized peer review. Reviewers know the identities of the authors, while the identities of reviewers are not disclosed to authors.

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers. Further information is available on the Editorial Process and Peer Review page.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Before completing the submission, authors must confirm that:

• The manuscript is original and is not under consideration by another journal.
• The work falls within the aims and scope of Prismalia Journal.
• The official article template has been used.
• The cover letter has been completed and uploaded.
• All authors have approved the manuscript and its submission.
• All authors have a valid ORCID iD.
• Author names, affiliations and metadata are complete and consistent.
• The title, abstract and keywords are provided in English and Spanish.
• All in-text citations correspond to the reference list.
• References follow APA 7 and include DOI URLs where available.
• Tables and figures are numbered, cited and accompanied by captions.
• High-resolution figure files have been uploaded separately.
• Permissions have been obtained for all third-party materials.
• Ethical approval and informed consent information have been reported when applicable.
• Author contributions, funding and conflicts of interest have been declared.
• The use or non-use of generative AI has been declared.
• A Data Availability Statement has been included.
• Supplementary materials have been uploaded when applicable.

Submissions That May Be Returned

Before peer review, the editorial team may return submissions that:

• Do not use the official template.
• Contain incomplete author or submission metadata.
• Do not include the required bilingual elements.
• Do not follow APA 7.
• Contain low-quality or unreadable figures.
• Lack required ethical or authorship declarations.
• Do not include a cover letter.
• Fall outside the scope of the journal.
• Present substantial concerns regarding originality or research integrity.

Returning a manuscript for technical correction does not imply that it has been accepted for external peer review.
